If you haven't been here recently, give them another try. We went for lunch today (12/02/25). We started with chunky Guacamole to go with our chips and salsa. The salsa had a lot of flavor and the guac was really good with onions and tomatoes mixed in with the chunks of avocado. My steak fajitas and Kelli's chicken enchiladas were both a solid 8 out of 10. The food arrived quickly and my fajitas were sizzling on the hot plate. The service was really good. Our server spoke English very well and got our entire order correct the first time. He had someone assisting him who kept our drinks and chip basket full. The absolute best part, however, is the addition of the coffee bar with Tiffany as the barista. We each got a coffee creation to go. I got the gingerbread iced latte special she created and it was fantastic! Keep up the good food and service Old Mexico and we will be back.
Overview
Walking into Old Mexico, Mexican Restaurant in Perry, Florida feels like stepping into a familiar neighborhood spot where everyone seems to know what theyβre doing in the kitchen. Located at 2241 S Byron Butler Pkwy, Perry, FL 32348, United States, this diner-style Mexican restaurant has quietly built a reputation for reliable flavors, generous portions, and a laid-back atmosphere that works just as well for families as it does for solo diners grabbing lunch.
Iβve eaten here multiple times over the years, usually stopping in after a long drive or recommending it to friends passing through Perry. What stands out right away is how consistent the food is. The menu doesnβt try to reinvent Mexican cuisine, and thatβs honestly part of its strength. Youβll find familiar staples like tacos, enchiladas, burritos, fajitas, and combination plates that let you sample a bit of everything. The chips and salsa arrive quickly, and the salsa leans more fresh than fiery, which makes it easy to enjoy before the main dishes hit the table.
From a practical standpoint, the kitchen follows processes that many established restaurants use to maintain consistency. Proteins are seasoned in advance, sauces are prepared in batches, and dishes are assembled quickly once ordered. According to data from the National Restaurant Association, consistency and speed are two of the top factors customers associate with repeat visits, and this place clearly understands that balance. Youβre not waiting forever, but the food doesnβt feel rushed either.
One personal favorite is the sizzling fajita platter. It comes out hot, aromatic, and loaded with grilled peppers and onions that still have texture. The tortillas are warm, the rice isnβt overcooked, and the beans taste like theyβve actually been seasoned, which sounds basic but isnβt always a given. Another solid option is the combination menu, especially for first-time visitors who want to explore different flavors without committing to one dish.
Reviews from locals and travelers alike often mention portion size and value. On platforms like Google and Yelp, many diners note that the servings are filling without feeling sloppy. Research from BrightLocal shows that over 85% of consumers trust online reviews as much as personal recommendations, and the steady ratings here reflect that trust. While not every review is glowing, most criticisms focus on personal taste preferences rather than quality or cleanliness.
Speaking of cleanliness, the dining area and restrooms are usually well-kept. That matters more than people realize. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention consistently reports that visible cleanliness strongly influences customer perception of food safety, even when kitchens meet health standards. This restaurant does a good job on that front, which adds to its trust factor.
The location itself is convenient, especially if youβre already traveling along Byron Butler Parkway. Parking is straightforward, and the restaurant is easy to spot. While itβs not a flashy destination spot, it fits perfectly into the local dining scene. The atmosphere is casual, with simple dΓ©cor and comfortable seating that encourages you to relax rather than rush out.
There are limitations worth mentioning. If youβre searching for highly regional Mexican dishes or modern fusion cuisine, the menu may feel traditional to a fault. Spice levels are moderate, and customization options are present but not endless. Still, that predictability is exactly why many people keep coming back.
Overall, the experience feels honest. Youβre getting familiar Mexican food, prepared with care, served by staff who know the menu and keep things moving. For anyone looking up locations, menus, or reviews before choosing where to eat in Perry, this restaurant earns its place through consistency, value, and a track record that locals clearly understand.

Everything is good! Awesome place to eat or hang out with friends or family. Bar in the back is REALLY nice with an upscale atmosphere. You will not be disappointed. Their alambres is phenomenal with steak or chicken.
They have remodeled the inside of the Restaurant.. it is so nice!.. the fajitas are great.. chips and salsa are complimentary. You will not be disappointed
Food taste very authentic me personally a little more seasoning but it's authentic Mexico. Got a side of rice and enchiladas supreme. Sub the bean out for chicken. Food was great. But more than that the customer service was awesome. I sat and waited for my food to come out the owner or manager asked if I wanted a drink while I wait and for someone like myself that's awesome although I didn't want anything I appreciate the offer. So they are making a effort I only tried one thing on the menu but I would go back again.
Steinhatchee scallops caught that day cooked by the food truck on 1st and 7th less than a mile from Sea Hag. Cooked to perfection and served with tacos and rice. Pick de gallo was the best compliment to the dinner. My 8 and 9 year old loved it as well!
